This exciting week long day camp is for students, ages 7 - 12, who play violin, viola, cello or double bass.
The camp program includes: string orchestra rehearsals, sectionals, music theory, ear training, and a culminating performance.
Young Strings Camp tuition is $105. Registration and full tuition due by June 1, 2014.
We offer a 10% family discount on string camp tuition for families with more than one student enrolled in any of our Young Strings or Chamber Music camps.
The 2014 Young Strings Camp - Oregon City will be held at Alliance Charter Academy in Oregon City. Alliance Charter Academy is conveniently located at 16075 Front Ave Oregon City, OR 97045. There is easy access from I-205 north or south. There are easy routes from Tualatin, West Linn &Lake Oswego.
Nathan Givens has a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from Portland State University where he studied with Carol Sindell, violinist for the Floristan Trio. Mr. Givens was also a violist in the Portland Youth Philharmonic. Mr. Givens is currently involved in chamber music with both violin and viola. He taught Elementary Orchestra for the Lake Oswego School District from 1999 - 2002. Mr. Givens was the Orchestra Director for the Wood Middle School and Wilsonville High School Orchestras from 2004 - 2012. Mr. Givens currently teaches in the Strings Program for the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. Mr. Givens is also the Orchestra Director for Alliance Charter Academy.
Lori Givens has a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from the Indiana University School of Music where she studied with Allen DeVeritch, former principal violist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Rainer Moog, former principal violist of the Berlin Philharmonic. Currently involved in chamber music with both the violin and viola, Mrs. Givens has performed professionally with the Richmond Symphony, Evansville Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony, Columbus Pro Musica, Columbus Symphony, Terre Haute Symphony, and Bloomington Pops Orchestra.
