About Your Teacher
Originally from Santa Rosa, CA, Alexander Margitich began his musical journey singing in the church choir that his father conducted. Alex took up the guitar and eventually attended Berklee College of Music where he studied guitar and composition. While in school Alex found work as a peer tutor and began to develop his teaching skills and his love of sharing knowledge.

After his time at Berklee Alex found an opportunity playing bass in the band WATERS, leading him on a year long adventure of playing Rock n Roll all across the United States and in Europe. Eventually landed in Brooklyn, Alex spent the next few years founding his own band, Andrei Rublev, and playing shows all over Brooklyn and Manhattan. Alex also worked full time as a teacher for NYC Guitar School where he continued to learn and hone his craft as a teacher.

Before moving to Portland, Alex met his future wife and got married in June 2016. In addition to teaching Alex also works as a composer, performer, and songwriter. Recently his song “Together/Apart” was featured on Season 2 of ABC’s Quantico. You can see Alex perform in his band Telecommuter or with the Julia Pinckney Jazz Quartet.

Music Together

Ten weekly, 45-minute classes include songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play.

This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth to age five through all nine song collections. This class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of mixed ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.
